Door won’t close all the way?

A door that won’t fully close is usually a quick fix. Work through these in order.

Sensors and obstructions

If it reverses before reaching the floor, check the photo-eyes and clear the path. Even a small object or a coiled hose in the beam triggers a reverse.

Travel limits

If it stops a few inches short or leaves a gap, the close-travel limit drifted (common after a power loss). The opener needs its down-limit re-set so it knows where the floor is.

Weatherseal and floor

A worn bottom seal can look like a gap even when the door is fully down. Replacing the seal is cheap and keeps Florida’s rain and bugs out. An uneven floor can also leave a light gap that a new seal closes.

Questions, answered.

01.Why does my garage door stop before closing?+

Usually the safety sensors detecting an obstruction, or a close-travel limit that needs resetting.

02.Why is there a gap under my closed garage door?+

Often a worn bottom weatherseal or a slightly drifted travel limit — both quick fixes.

03.How do I reset my garage door’s close limit?+

Each opener differs; it’s a small adjustment on the motor unit. We can do it during a service call if you’d rather not.
